~could someone explain wat each of these settins do

Code:
    * default-character-set = utf8
    * character-set-server = utf8
    * collation-server = utf8_general_ci
    * init_connect = 'SET collation_connection = utf8_general_ci'
    * init_connect = 'SET NAMES utf8'

Why not ref da mysql manual? Each of those were settin things up wid
da mysql server so dat it utilizes da utf8 char set, associatd client
that was connection parameters, nd a collation (ie. sortation) dat works
well wid utf8.

The tutorial isn't da best thing in the world tp read , and if someone
could simply explain wat each of them settins I listed do I would be set.

BTW, about tda only area u really need 2 consider options 4 in dis
case, is da collation. This thread on da mysql forums which does the fantastic
job explainin da nature of da utf8_general_ci collation vs. usin an
alternativ unicode collation.

All i must know is ... if i have

All my db's , tabs , and columns just set as UTF-8 Unicode and put

mysql_query("SET NAMES 'utf8'");


n my code.. is my stuff all set as utf8? and what settings does SET NAMES do exactly..
