After getting my SCJP certification 4 years ago, I ended up taking a position that has involved (mostly) hard-core Perl/Javascript development. I recently finished a quick task to build a servlet app in front of JFreechart. As I started doing various searches to help me along, I realized how much I missed in the last few years.

My question is this: if I want to start getting my Java skills back and up to date, where is a good place to start? What Java technologies and frameworks should I start with?

Thanks for your help.

I'd say the first thing to do is update your Java SE knowledge. There were quite a few important additions to the Java SE in the last 4 years

That's impossible to answer. The answer depends on what you are going to build.
