I just downloaded VS 2005 Express, created a simple website, and attempted to build a release version to test it on my server.

"Release" is not an option in the Active Solution Configuration. Am I missing something here? Confused [*-)]

The only options I have are:
Debug

Thanks!

Visual Web Developer does not support configurations. This is because your website is not built on the client - it is built by the Asp.Net runtime as your application executes. Therefore, to get a debug build you modify the <compilation> tag in web.config to include debug=true as follows:

<compilation debug="true" />

This is what happens when you pres F5 to debug. Setting debug="false" creates a release build.

The Buld command in Visual Web Developer is really just a quick compilation to find your errors. It does not create any output assemblies.
